Victor "Bud" Adrian Cliett

Mr. Victor Adrian (V. A.) "Bud" Cliett, age 101 of Broxton passed away Monday afternoon, September 1, 2014, at his residence, following a brief illness. Mr. Cliett was born November 28, 1912 to the late William Thomas Cliett and the late Algerine Jowers Cliett. Mr. Cliett, a native of Broxton, Coffee County, was a prominent farmer in the Pridgen Community. He was a former Revenue Agent for the State of Georgia. He was the oldest Revenue Agent in the State, with a badge for his position. He was later presented a Life Time Membership for his work with the Revenue Department of the State of Georgia. He also preceded in death by his wife, Arloa Solomon Cliett, 3 sons, Bobby Cliett, Daniel Lamar "Dan" Cliett, William A. "Billy" Cliett, a daughter, Doris C. McKinnon, and 11 Siblings, Joel William Burton Cliett, Bradley Felton Cliett, James Dureau Marcellus Cliett, Gordon Terrell Cliett, Infant Guy Winthrop Cliett, Ada Cliett Hester, Doris Gertrude Cliett Carver Whatley, Rosa Bell Cliett Buchan, Vernie Cliett Wooten, Dora Pearl Cliett Wooten, Infant Vergie Alice Cliett. Mr. Cliett was a member of the Pridgen Baptist Church. Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Othell (James D.) Scott of Broxton, Ga.; 8 Grandchildren: Jeff (April) Cliett of Broxton, Ga., Becky Cliett (Aaron) Shearl of Douglas, Ga,. Adrian Lee (Sloane) Cliett of Douglas, Ga., Lisa (Larry) Hutcheson of Douglas, Ga., Bobby (Terri) Smith of Fitzgerald, Ga., James (Jan) Scott of Hazlehurst, Ga., Kenny Cliett of Statesboro, Ga., and Anita (James) Rogers of Douglas,Ga.; 17 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Thursday morning, September 4, 2014, at 11:00 A. M., at the Pridgen Baptist Church, with Rev. Elick Bullington and Dr. Stephen Hart officiating. A Special Poem "The Bridge Builder" was presented by a grandson, Jimmy Scott, and A Special Eulogy was given by a grandson, Lee Cliett. The Interment followed in the Pridgen Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Jeff Cliett, Lee Cliett, Bobby Smith, Joshua Smith, Jimmy Scott, Ben Scott, Jared Scott, and Kenny Cliett. Honorary Pallbearers were: Tom Boone, Jim Boone, Charles "Sambo" Boone, Andy Cliett, Eli Shearl, and Dalton Rogers. Special Musical Selections, "Standing On the Promises", and "Amazing Grace" were presented by the Congregation, led by Terry Thurman, with CD Music, "Family Bible" was presented by the Soloist, Terry Thurman, with CD Music. "Pre-Lude" and "Post-Lude" soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Dawn Tarrant. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
