Rosa Lee Amerson Hester

Mrs. Rosa Lee Spivey Amerson Hester, age 79, of Douglas passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Mayo Health Clinic in Waycross, following an extended illness. She was born Nov. 7, 1936 to the late Tilmon Spivey and the late Linnie Mae Davis Spivey. Mrs. Hester, a native of Coffee County, was a homemaker. She loved and enjoyed her Husband, Children, Grand-children, Sister, and her church family. She was also preceded in death by her first Husband, Charles William Amerson, 1 Daughter, Cathy Broughton, 1 Son, Mackey Register, 1 Grandson, Marty Amerson, 7 Brothers, J. D. Spivey, Homer Lee Spivey, Hansel Spivey, Sr., Isaac Spivey, Tilmon Spivey, Jr., Ronald David Spivey, John Nelson Spivey , 2 Sisters, Emma Lou Morgan, and Lounell Spivey. Mrs. Hester was a member of the Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church. Survivors include – Her Husband, George Raymond Hester, Sr. of Douglas, Ga.; 9 Daughters: Charlene (Randy) Adams, Theresa Kirkland, Sheila Cooper, and Wanda (Rev. Joey) Copeland, Lounell Burkes, all of Douglas, Ga., Talena (Barry) Spivey of Willacoochee, Ga., Nell (Darryl) Davis of Nicholls, Ga., Peggy (Bobby Joe) Pritchard of West Green, Ga., and Dianne (Howard) Hersey of Beach Island, South Carolina. 4 Sons: Johnny (Candi) Amerson of Douglas, Ga., Brandon (Kathy) Register of Albertville, Alabama, Kenny (Deanna) Amerson, and JImmie (Alicia) Amerson all of Pearson, Ga.; 3 Step-Children: George Raymond Hester, Jr., and Sharon (Ethridge) Wright, both of Douglas, Ga., and Bonnie (Raymond) Musgrove of Axson, Ga.; 1 Sister: Hazel (George) Morgan of Douglas, Ga.; 35 Grandchildren, and Numerous Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Sunday, Mar. 13, 2016, at 2:00 P. M., at the Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church, with Rev. Howard Holt, Rev. Donnie Sloan, and Rev. Joey Copeland officiating. A Special Poem “Rosa’s Garden”, was presented by the Grandchildren. The Interment followed in the Tanner Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Steve Whitley, LaVoy Whitley, Barry Whitley, Timmy Whitley, Paris Herlocker, and Keith Mathews. Special Musical Selections, “Look What I Traded For A Mansion”, was presented by Brandon Musgrove, Venese Musgrove, and the Pianist, Bonnie Musgrove, “Amazing Grace/My Chains Are Gone”, was rendered by the Soloist and Pianist, Brandon Musgrove, “I Believe”, was rendered by CD Music by Jimmy Fortune, and “Amazing Grace”, was presented as a Congregational Hymn, with Bonnie Musgrove, at the Piano. Ricketson Funeral Home was In charge of the Arrangements.
