Eugene Wilkerson

Mr. Eugene Wilkerson, age 81, of Willacoochee passed away Tuesday morning, May 10, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born April 29, 1935 to the late George Wilkerson and the late Ora Adams Wilkerson. Mr. Wilkerson, a native of Coffee County, served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He was also a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served an honorable full-time mission in the Texas Mission as well as other callings within the church. He was a prominent farmer in the Hebron Community. Mr. Wilkerson also enjoyed spending time with his family and serving the Lord. He was also preceded in death by 1 Brother, William Carroll Wilkerson, 1 Sister, Evelyn Lee Raper, and 1 Niece, Angela Ora Geames. Mr. Wilkerson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include, His Wife: Nancy Diann Mobley Wilkerson of Willacoochee, Ga.; 3 Sons: Ricki (Ame) Wilkerson of Willacoochee, GA, Michael (Marie) Wilkerson of Waycross, GA, and Neil (Kimberly) Wilkerson of Statesboro, GA.; 2 Daughters: Renee (James) Elliott of Willacoochee, GA, and Leah (Cliff) Knowlton of Douglas, GA.; 1 Sister: Nancy (Hans) Nilsen of Gilbert, Arizona. 8 Grandchildren: Brandon, Payton, Kaylen, Emma, Logan, Addison, Eli, and Paige. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Thursday morning, May 12, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Justin Morris, presiding. An Opening Prayer was given by Paul Wayne Hester. A special eulogy was given by a daughter, Renee Elliott, with speakers, Danny Solomon and Sons, Neil Wilkerson and Michael Wilkerson, also giving eulogies. A closing prayer was presented by a Sister, Nancy Lou Nilsen. The Interment followed in the Little Utah Cemetery, in Atkinson County, with the grave dedicatory prayer being given by a Son, Ricki Wilkerson. Active Pallbearers were: Ricki Wilkerson, Michael Wilkerson, Neil Wilkerson, Brandon Wilkerson, Payton Wilkerson, James Elliott, and Cliff Knowlton. Honorary Pallbearers were: Wilkerson Cousins, Douglas 1st Ward Elders & High Priests, Coffee County School System Bus Transportation employees and retirees, Hebron, Mora and Bridgetown Family and Friends. Special Musical Selections, “Our Savior’s Love”, was presented by the Congregation, led by Tammy Spell, with Jessica Moore, at the Piano, “Oh Lord, My Redeemer”, was presented by a Son, Michael Wilkerson, with Jessica Moore, at the Piano, “I Know My Redeemer Lives”, was presented by the Pianist, Jessica Moore, and a Closing Hymn, “God Be With You Till We Meet Again”, was rendered by the Congregation, led by Tammy Spell, with Jessica Moore, at the Piano. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
