Carl David Mercer

Mr. Carl David “Dago” Mercer, age 71, of Pearson passed away suddenly Saturday morning, April 9, 2016, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born Sept. 2, 1944, to the late William Dave Mercer and Elease Taylor Paul. Mr. Mercer, a native of Coffee County, was a former car salesman with the local Ford Dealership. For the past few years, he had been escorting Mobile Homes. He was a very respected and talented Musician. He had played the Piano for many churches and funerals. He loved his family, his Wife, Children, Grandchildren, His Mother, Brother, Sister, and Step-Brother. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. Survivors include: His Wife: Kitty Carter Mercer of Pearson, GA; 2 Sons: Michael David (Bree) Mercer of Pearson, Ga., and Mardy E. (Bridgette) Mercer of Ambrose, GA; His Mother: Elease Taylor Paul of Douglas, GA; 1 Brother, James Edward “Pete” (Dot) Mercer of Kingsland, GA; 1 Sister, Ann (Wilton) Spivey of Douglas, GA; 1 Step-Brother, Dennis (Linda) Wright of Douglas, GA; 3 Grandchildren, Madison Mercer of Ambrose, GA, Annaston Mercer, and Lillie Mercer, both of Pearson, GA; Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 1:00 P. M., at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home, with Rev. Gregory Pope officiating, with a closing Prayer being given by Jackie Pope. A Special Eulogy was given by his niece, Donna Lambert. The Interment followed in the Arna Cemetery, with Military Rites, Bugler, and Flag Detail being furnished by Personnel from the U. S. Army Base at Fort Stewart. Active Pallbearers were: Randy Eldridge, Roy Swann, Al Sirmans, Johnny Davis, Kent Belcher, and Ronnie Courson. Honorary Pallbearers were: Sammy Dixon, Rev. Travis Peavy, Rev. Matthew McEachern, Wayne Carter, D. B. Morris, Teddy Morris, Noah Mancil, Dudley Vickers, Jared Morris, Wade Walters, Greg Griffis, Rick Bennett, Steve Stewart, Larry Purvis, and Randy Sprinkle. Special Musical Selections, “Tennessee Waltz”, and “Last Dance”, were presented by the Pianist, Gene Davis, “Old Rugged Cross”, was presented by the Soloist, Steve Kirkland, with CD Music and Joy Strickland, on Guitar, and “Peace Speaker”, was presented by the Soloist, Becky Davis, with CD Music. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by CD Music.
