Sherley Bernard Vickers

Mr. Sherley B. Vickers, age 75, of Ambrose passed away Monday, August 24, 2015, at the Haven Hospice Center, in Orange Park, Florida, following a short illness. He was born August 18, 1940 to the late Ira Vickers and Ruby Vickers Vickers. Mr. Vickers, a native of Ambrose, Coffee County, was a prominent Poultry Farmer in the Ambrose area. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Wylene V. Rhodes. Mr. Vickers was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include: His Wife: Aundria Bernell Steele (Andy) Vickers of Ambrose, GA; 1 Son: Bernard Vickers of Ambrose, GA; 2 Daughters: Ira Sue Harrell of Pearson, GA, and Annrea Disharoon of Fayetteville, GA; His Mother: Ruby V. Vickers of Ambrose,Ga.; Grandchildren: Lee Evans, Michael Harrell, and Trell Walker, all of Douglas, GA; Nicholas Vickers, and Tiffany Bookout, both of Ambrose, GA, Drew Disharoon, and Nicole Disharoon, both of Fayetteville, GA; Great Grandchildren: Kaylee Bookout, Ashton Jewell, and Nathan Hattaway, all of Ambrose, GA, Maylee Evans, Payton Haney, Tailor Haney, Mandi Marie Harrell, Ava Harrell and Jayden Harrell all of Douglas, GA; Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Thursday morning, August 27, 2015, at 10:00 A. M., at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Hutchinson, Rev. L. G. Aldridge, and Rev. Michael Harper officiating. The Interment followed in the Purvis Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Timmy Dees, Caylan Harper, Ricky Harper, Chad Gilliard, Sean Fussell, and Shawn Faulkner. Honorary Pallbearers were: Ashley Paulk, Richard Vickers, Ed Dusi, Mike Nugent, Elisha Lott, Ed Anderson, Leland Dees, Claude Bell, Paul Musgrove, Wendell Vickers, Donnie Giddens, Terry Harrell, Class of 1958, and Members of the Calvary Baptist Church. Special Selections, “Amazing Grace” was presented by the Congregation, led by Philip Jowers, with June Rowell, at the Piano, “How Great Thou Art”, was presented by the Soloist, Philip Jowers, with June Rowell, at the Piano, and “The Anchor Holds” was presented by the Soloist, Philip Jowers, with CD Music. “Pre-Lude” and ‘Post-Lude” soft hymns were presented by the Pianist, June Rowell. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
