Mrs. Sandra Veal Newell, age 63, of Broxton passed away Sunday morning, September 25, 2016, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, following an extended illness. She was born July 6, 1953 to the late Roy Lee Veal, Sr. and the late Mildred Graves Veal. Mrs. Newell, a native of Coffee County, was a retired Health Care Giver with the Toombs County Health Department. She and her husband, Rev. Jerry Newell, had been in the Ministry at various locations in South Georgia with the Church of God and Holiness Baptist Association. She was preceded in death by 1 Brother, Roy Lee Veal, Jr. and 2 Sisters, Laverne Ruff and Nelva Grace Veal. Mrs. Newell was a member of the Broxton Church of God. Survivors include: Her Husband, Rev. Jerry Newell of Broxton, GA; 1 Daughter, Michelle (Byron) Yawn of Jacksonville, GA; 1 Son, Captain Jeremy (Autumn) Newell of Vidalia, GA; 2 Sisters, Ann Dora Merritt of Douglas, GA and Brenda (Rev. Dewayne) Atkinson of Cairo, GA; 2 Brothers, Edward (Kim) Veal of Fitzgerald, GA and Glynn (Jo Ann) Veal of Douglas, GA; 5 Grandchildren, Bryce Yawn and Bryn Yawn, both of Jacksonville, GA; Hailee Newell, Payton Newell and Maddie Newell, all of Vidalia,GA; Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 2:00 P. M., at the Broxton Church of God, with Rev. Glen Fussell, Rev. Dewayne Atkinson and Rev. Joey Copeland officiating. The Interment followed in the Broxton Church of God Cemetery, with Rev. Milton Pate conducting the Committal Services. Active Pallbearers were: Adam Fussell, Ricky Merritt, Eddie Merritt, Lamar Merritt, Ray Fussell and Michael Veal. Honorary Pallbearers were: Ross Merritt, Matthew Merritt, Lamar Merritt, Michael Merritt, Jonathan Day and Johnny Cecil Newell. Special Musical Selections, “I Can Only Imagine,” “Stroll Over Heaven” and “Look What I Traded For A Mansion” were presented by Brent & Anna Holcombe and Allison Hutcheson, with Anna Holmombe, at the Piano. “Amazing Grace/My Chains Are Gone,” was presented by the Soloist, Michelle Yawn and Pianist, Rhonda Joiner. “Pre-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Anna Holcombe and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Rhonda Joiner.
