Mr. Robert Jonathan O'Steen, age 90, of West Green passed away early Monday morning, October 20, 2014, at Summer's Landing / Oxton Place, following an extended illness. He was born December 17, 1923 to the late Daniel L. O'Steen, Sr. and the late Maggie Chaney O'Steen. Mr. O'Steen, a native of Coffee County, was a retired farmer of the West Green Community. He was also a former bookkeeper for Brooks Auto Parts, Inc. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ophelia Spann O'Steen, and 8 Siblings, Freeman O'Steen, Cora Smith, Gussie Minix, Elbert O'Steen, Grady O'Steen, Daniel L. O'Steen, Jr., Jack O'Steen, and Mary Helen Baker. He was a World War II U. S. Marine Veteran. Mr. O'Steen was a Deacon and a faithful member of the West Green Baptist Church. Survivors include:. 3 Sons: Robert A. "Tony" (Jean) O'Steen, and Kenneth "Kenny" (Debra) O'Steen, both of West Green, Ga., and Sidney (Georgia Ann) O'Steen of Broxton, Ga.; 8 Grandchildren, and 16 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Thursday morning, October 23, 2014, at 11:00 A. M., at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home, with Rev. Herbert Box and Rev. Kevin Bounds officiating. The Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery, with Military Honors, including the Flag Detail and Bugler, being furnished by Personnel from Marine Logistics Center in Albany, Ga. Active Pallbearers were: Hugh O'Steen, Sam O'Steen, Jason O'Steen, Ben O'Steen, Jake O'Steen, Josh O'Steen, Kendra O'Steen, and Kacie Fletcher. Honorary Pallbearers were the Deacons of West Green Baptist Church, Robert Rivers, Robert Sprinkle, Kyle Lott, Wade Burkett, Dale Moon, Tommy Little, Bobby Jenkins, and Kirby Holton, and the Caregivers of Oxton Place. Special Musical Selections, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", " If We Never Meet Again", and "I'll Fly Away", were presented as Congregational Hymns, led by Sidney O'Steen, with Georgia Ann O'Steen, at the Piano. "Pre-Lude" and "Post-Lude" soft hymns were rendered by CD Music. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
