Mr. Raymond Luke, age 88, of Douglas passed away early Tuesday morning, Mar. 28, 2017, at Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a short illness. He was born Aug. 9, 1928 to the late Riley Luke and the late Nellie Jernigan Luke Brown. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Henry Luke and Rev. Milton Luke. Mr. Luke, a native of Berrien County, was self employed as a Radio & Television repairman. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his church family. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Luke was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church, where he had been a Deacon, Moderator and he had also been the church treasurer for 17 years. He also had been a member of the Coffee County School Board for 8 years. Survivors include: His Wife: Frances Fortune Luke of Douglas, GA 2 Sons: Alan (Debbie) Luke of Douglas, GA, and Brick (Karen) Luke of Columbus, GA 3 Sisters: Ludell Harper of Ambrose, GA, Carolyn Black of Supply, North Carolina, and Mozelle Pridgen of Broxton, GA 4 Grandchildren: Alison Luke (Michael, Jr.) O’Steen of Douglas, GA; Erica Luke of Valdosta, GA; Kristin (Robb) Riddell of Columbus, GA and Matthew (Emily) Luke of Dahlonega, GA 4 Great Grandchildren: Sarah Frances O’Steen, Russ O’Steen, and Elizabeth O’Steen, all of Douglas, GA and Noah Riddell of Columbus, GA Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and A Host of Friends. Funeral services were held Thursday morning, Mar. 30, 2017, at 10:30 A. M., at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. George Carroll Paulk and Rev. Gene Luke officiating. The interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery with Military Honors, including Flag Detail and Bugler, being furnished by Personnel from Moody Air Force Base of Valdosta, GA. Active Pallbearers were: Jack Steptoe, Jerry Sutton, Ray Geiger, Ray Fussell, David Morse and Dennis Josey. Special Musical Selections, “Blessed Assurance”, was presented by Del Parisella and Ray Geiger, with Taped Music, “It Is Well with My Soul”, was rendered by Carolyn Wright at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Carolyn Wright. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
