Phillip Harrell

August 21, 1936 - December 10, 2013

Mr. Phillip Harrell, age 77, passed away Tuesday evening, December 10, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Harrell was born August 21, 1936 to the late Jesse James Harrell and the late Miriam Kirkland Harrell. Mr. Harrell, a native of Coffee County, was a prominent farmer of the Satilla Community. He was a member of the Coffee County Saddle Club and a member of the South Georgia Association of Saddle Clubs. Mr. Harrell was also a former employee of Brooks Auto Parts of Douglas and had worked seven years for Sears. He was also a former EMT for Coffee County and a former School Bus Driver for the Coffee County School System. Mr. Harrell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2nd Ward. He was preceded in death by a grandson Chezare “Chaz” Harrell. Survivors include: His Wife: Vonice Moore Harrell of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Son: Mark Jesse Harrell of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Daughter: Cheri (Hamp) McKinnon of Douglas, Ga.; 2 Brothers: L. J. (Jewell) Harrell; and Frankie (Linda) Harrell, all of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Sister: Carolyn (Bill) Turner of Brooks, Ga.; 4 Grandchildren: Brian (Tiffany) McKinnon, Chance Harrell, Jesse Harrell, and JannaKay Tanner all of Douglas, Ga.; 3 Great Grandchildren: Tanner McKinnon, Chezley Harrell, and Tucker McKinnon, all of Douglas, Ga.; Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 2:00 P.M., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2nd Ward, with the Opening Prayer by Bro. Jerry Waldron followed by a Eulogy by Rev. Larry Stone, with the Message by Bro. Timothy Fussell and the Closing Prayer by Bro. Joey Chancey. The interment followed in the Harrell Grove Cemetery with the Dedication and Consecration of the burial site being presented by Timmy Kirkland. Active Pallbearers were: Dr. Justin Harrell, Mike Thomas, Cary Taylor, Jerome Harrell, Curtis Turner, Michael Connally, Glynn Smith, and Jimmy Moore. Honorary Pallbearers were: the Priesthood of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2nd Ward, Members of Harrell Grove Sunday School Class, Members of the Coffee County Saddle Club, Members of the South Georgia Association of Saddle Clubs, Kenny Adams, Rev. Carlos (Red) McKinnon, Rev. Clyde Purvis, Kent Belcher, Michael McKinnon, Delores Batts, Travis Peavy, Sr., Cecil Graham, Carroll Stevens, LeRoy Wright and Barbara Williams. Special Musical Selections, “I Know My Redeemer Lives” was presented as a congregational hymn with Lois Mills at the organ and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” was presented by CD music. “Pre-Lude and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were presented by the Organist, Lois Mills. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
