Orville Miller

Mr. Orville Winston Miller, age 82, of Douglas passed away early Friday morning, October 11, 2013, at Coffee Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born May 4, 1931 to the late Thomas Walter Miller and the late Betty Harper Miller. Mr. Miller, a native of Coffee County, was a retired ice cream truck driver. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Jimmy Monroe Miller and Winston Keith Miller, a daughter, Betty Sue Gowen, a grandson, Jared Rutland, and 2 brothers, Raymond Miller and Pete Miller. Mr. Miller was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2nd Ward of Douglas. Survivors Include: His Wife: Pauline Lott Miller of Douglas, Ga.; Children: Charles Henry (Diane) Miller, Duaine (Peggy) Miller, Donald Wade (Mary) Miller, all of Douglas, Ga. , and Paula C. (Tim) Lott of Broxton, Ga.; 1 Brother: Emory (Ann) Miller of Fitzgerald, Ga. 2 Sisters: Jean (J.M.) Pridgen of Broxton, Ga., and Margie (Walt) Harrison of Woodland Hills, California. 13 Grandchidren, 22 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Sunday afternoon, October 13, 2013, at 4:00 P.M., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with the Opening Prayer by Bro. Jack Flynn, and the following speakers, Bro. Brandon Miller, Bro. Michael Gowen, Bro. John Keanon, Bro. Steve Sirmans, and Bishop Tom Wooten. A Closing Prayer was presented by Bro. Doug Gilbert. The Interment followed in the Griffin Cemetery, with the dedication and consecration of the burial site being presented by Bro. Michael Gowen. Active Pallbearers were Quentin Miller, Jacob A. Lott, II, Kyle T. Lott, Brandon D. Miller, Ashton O. Miller, Michael W. Gowen, and Jeremy K. Rutland. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Congregation. Special Musical Selections, “How Great Thou Art”, “Nearer My God To Thee”, and “God Be With You Till We Meet Again”, were presented by Kay Jordan and the Pianist, Kathy Gilbert. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Kathy Gilbert.
