James Morgan Sr.

June 6, 1932 - December 27, 2017

Mr. James Morgan, Sr., age 85 of Douglas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 27, 2017, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Morgan was born June 6, 1932 to the late Elijah Morgan and the late Mae Murray Morgan. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Brothers, Elzie Morgan and Clayton Morgan and 1 Sister, Alma Royals. Mr. Morgan, a native Atkinson County, was a retired Shop Supervisor with Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Morgan was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include: 1 Son: James Morgan, Jr. and his wife Deidra of Junction City, Kansas 1 Daughter: Anita Carol Tillman and her husband Tom of Monticello, GA 1 Sister: Doll McKinnon of Douglas, GA 6 Grandchildren: Kyle Morgan, Luke Morgan, Derek Morgan, Jill Morgan, Morgan Tillman and Will Tillman A Special Friend: Betty Ellis. Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of Friends The funeral service was held Sunday, December 31, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Atkinson County with Rev. Bobby Fussell officiating. The interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Kyle Morgan, Luke Morgan, Derek Morgan, Will Tillman, Manning Smith and Henry Smith. Special Musical Selections, “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder”, “I’ll Fly Away” and “Gathering Flowers” were presented by Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church Choir, with Brett Daniels, at the Piano and “Amazing Grace” was rendered as a Congregational Hymn, with Brett Daniels, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Brett Daniels. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
