Rev. Grady Vernon Seawright

January 6, 1943 - February 22, 2019

Rev. Grady Vernon Seawright, age 76 of Douglas, passed away Friday evening, February 22, 2019 at his residence following a short illness. Rev. Seawright was born January 6, 1943 to the late Clyde Vernon Seawright and the late Gladys Faulkner Seawright. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Grandchildren, Esther Reese Day and Meliah Jade Stevens, 7 Siblings, Evelyn Hand, Louise Fallin, Jeanette Bozeman, Hazel Jones, James Seawright, J. L. Seawright and Luther Seawright. Rev. Seawright, a native of Coolidge, GA, was a minister of the gospel. He was the founder of “The Last Days True Holiness Church” in Douglas and “Solomon Bridge Holiness Church” in the Wilsonville Community. He worked for 14 years as the manager and as a D J with WOKA where he was known as the “Sunshine Man. Survivors include: 3 Children: Selena Day of Broxton, GA; Gary Vernon Seawright and Grady Timothy Seawright, both of Douglas, GA 1 Brother: Eldon Seawright of Ochlocknee, GA 2 Sisters: Annie Ruth Peacock of Meigs, GA; and Dorothy Lewis of Coolidge, GA 7 Grandchildren: Travis Day of Andalusia, AL; Ellie Hoopiiaina of Willacoochee, GA Rachel Padgett of Jesup, GA; Matthew Seawright of Willacoochee, GA Michaela Seawright of Douglas, GA; Calix Seawright of Douglas, GA and Palin Seawright of Douglas, GA 9 Great Grandchildren A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends The funeral service was held Monday afternoon, February 25, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. at New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church in Ben Hill County with Rev. Jody Silvers, Rev. Tim Mock and Rev. Travis Day officiating. A Special Eulogy was given by Calix Seawright. The Interment followed in New Corinth Cemetery with Rev. Edward McKenzie conducting the Graveside Committal with Rev. Jody Silvers with closing prayer. Active Pallbearers were: Calix Seawright, Kyle Day, Eddie Smith, Nick Hoopiiaina, Rev. Randal Rhymes, Zack Padgett and Rev. Kyle Taft. Honorary Pallbearers were: W. L. Smith, Ed Smith, Junior Pridgen, Gary Johnson, Rev. Edward McKenzie, Rudolph Merritt and other local ministers. Special Musical Selections, “Daddy’s Home”, “Even If”, “It Is Well”, and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” were rendered by his Grandchildren, with Rev. Travis Day, at the Piano. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
