Mrs. Evelyn Genell Crosby Wilson, age 78, of Douglas, GA passed away early Tuesday morning, October 3, 2017, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Wilson, a native of Coffee County, was born January 31, 1939 to the late Joe Crosby and the late Mamie Mathews Crosby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 Brothers and 3 Sisters. Mrs. Wilson was formerly employed with a local Sewing Factory and she had also worked at Precious Possessions. She loved her family and church family. Mrs. Wilson had been a faithful member of Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church for 47 years. Survivors include: Her husband of 57 Years: Melvin Wilson of Douglas, GA 3 Children: Jerome (Tammy) Wilson, Tina Newnan and Willie (Lynn) Wilson all of Douglas, GA 2 Sisters: Tessie Burch of Axson, GA and Jannie Giddens of Pearson, GA 6 Grandchildren: Courtney (Bradley) Adams of Nicholls, GA Alyssa (Clayton) Taft, Zachary Wilson and Kenny Newnan all of Douglas, GA Joey (Maya) Wilson of Atlanta, GA and Randy (Shannon) Wilson of Lakeland, GA 3 Great Grandchildren: Kaylee Adams and Keirsten Adams both of Nicholls, GA and Grayson Taft of Douglas, GA Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of Friends. The funeral service was held Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Holt and Rev. Joe Vaughn officiating. The interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Atkinson County with Rev. Charles Williams conducting the committal service. Active Pallbearers were: Zachary Wilson, Clayton Taft, Bradley Adams, Joey Wilson, Ronnie Taft, Elden Gurley, Roger Giddens and Chris Wilson. Special Musical Selections, “Stroll Over Heaven” was presented by the Soloist and Guitarist, Richard Wilson, “I Firmly Promise You” and “Let Me Walk With You Jesus”, were presented by the Soloist and Pianist, Kaye Wright, and “Far Away” was presented by the Musgrove Family, with Bonnie Musgrove at the Piano and Brandon Musgrove on the Guitar. Pre-Lude and Post-Lude was presented by Bonnie Musgrove at the Piano. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
