Eugene Dixon Sr.

Mr. Eugene Dixon, Sr., age 81, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, in Leesburg following an extended illness. He was born July 10, 1933 to the late Alstean Dixon and the late Margaret Young Dixon. Mr. Dixon, a native of Coffee County, was a retired Assistant Foreman with Coca Cola. Prior to working with Coca Cola, he had been working with Minute Maid, Golden Gem, and the Eustis Fruit Industry. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Vonnaree Alexander Dixon, and 2 Brothers, Jack Dixon and John Dixon. Survivors include: Children: Eugene (Sherry) Dixon, Jr. of Opelika, Alabama ; A. F. (Sharon) Dixon of Jacksonville, Florida, Van Dixon of Leesburg, Florida ; Don (Kim) Dixon of Fitzgerald, Ga., Sue Dixon Brown of Eustis, Florida ; and Rex (Dianne) Dixon of Umatilla, Florida. 1 Sister: Frances Smith of Fitzgerald, Ga.; 16 Grandchildren, and 25 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 12:00 Noon, at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home, with Rev. Edsel Young and Mr. DeWayne Ruis officiating. The Interment followed in the Reedy Branch Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Grandsons and Nephews, Jason Dixon, Jonathan Dixon, Cody Dixon, Tony “PeeWee” Dixon, Jeffery Smith, and Brian Ruis. Special Musical Selections, “That Sounds Like Home To Me” and “Stroll Over Heaven” were presented by Jean Ruis and Brian Ruis, with Janice Young, at the Keyboard, “Amazing Grace”, was presented by Randall Smith, on the Harmonica and Janice Young, at the Keyboard. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by Janice Young, at the Keyboard. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
