Denton Eugene Holton Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Denton Eugene “Gene” Holton, Jr. age 84 of Douglas, passed away Monday afternoon, June 17, 2019 at Pruitt Health in Ocilla, GA. following an extended illness. Mr. Holton was born January 1, 1935 to the late Denton Eugene Holton, Sr. and the late Ruby Spivey Holton. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother, Lt. Leon Gershon Holton and 1 Sister, Pixie Nelwanda Holton Wooten. Mr. Holton, a native of Coffee County, retired from the U. S. Army as MSG. He served during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and he attended West Ward Church of God. Survivors include: His wife Ingeburg Schlaefer Holton of Douglas, GA 4 Children: Vikkie Gean Jaunique of Harris Township, MI Sidney Eugene Holton of West Green, GA ; Diana Harris of Madison, AL and Patrick Holton of Douglas, GA 3 Sisters: Delores Furr of Douglasville, GA ; Cynthia Lott of Douglas, GA and Linda Haddock and husband Hugh of Hilliard FL 1 Brother: Melvin Clark Holton of Marietta, GA Numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren A number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends The memorial service was held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at West Ward Church of God with Rev. Britt Peavy officiating. Full military honors, including the Flag Detail, Firing Squad and Bugler were furnished by personnel from Ft. Stewart Army Base at Hinesville, GA. The Inurnment will follow at a later date. Special Musical Selections, “One Day At A Time”, “When He Was On The Cross” and “Thank You Lord For Your Blessings On Me” were presented by the Soloist, Linda Bryan, with Robyn Vickers, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Robyn Vickers. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
