Mr. Buford “Gooney” Andrews, age 73, of the Pridgen Community, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 24, 2015, at the Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA following a short illness. He was born July 22, 1942 to the late Thomas Harry Andrews, Sr. and the late Hazel Solomon Andrews. Mr. Andrews, a native of Broxton, Coffee County, was a prominent business man of the Pridgen Community, having worked in the Well Drilling Business for many years. He was a former member of the local National Guard Unit. Mr. Andrews was a member of the Pridgen Baptist Church. Survivors include: His Wife: Joanne Worth Andrews of Broxton, GA 4 Children: George Thomas Andrews and special friend Wendy of Denton, GA, Kevin (Christy) Wise, and B. J. (Becky) Kight of West Green, GA , Herman (Chrissy) Kight, Jr. of Broxton, GA; 2 Brothers: Harry Andrews of West Green, GA and Wayne Andrews of Broxton, GA; 1 Aunt: Addie Courson of Broxton, GA; 15 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren; Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Pridgen Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Hart and Rev. Justin Moriarty officiating. Special Eulogies were given by Terry Thurman, Susan Thurman, and Brad Dockery. The Interment followed in the Pridgen Cemetery, with Rev. Kevin Bounds conducting the Graveside Services. Active Pallbearers were: Jordan Farabow, Jonathan Farabow, Conner Farabow, Drew Pridgen, George Boyd, Shannon Thurman, and Dusty Pridgen. Grandchildren served as Honorary Pallbearers. Special Musical Selections, “Beulah Land”, was presented by Kathy Farabow and Teresa Pridgen, with CD Music, "Everyboby Will Be Happy Over There”, was presented as a Congregational Hymn, led by Terry Thurman, with the , musicians, Susan Thurman and Dawn Tarrant, and Stanley Williams, on the Guitar, and “I Found The Lily In My Valley”, was rendered by the Soloist and Guitarist, R.M. Phillips. “Pre-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Musician, Susan Kight, and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Musicians, Susan Thurman, Dawn Tarrant, and Stanley Williams, at the Guitar. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
