Mrs. Betty Jean Malphus Davis, age 83 of Douglas, passed away Tuesday morning, October 9, 2018, at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Davis was born August 27, 1935 to the late Carl Malphus and the late Elizabeth “Lizzie” Story Malphus. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Davis, Sr., 1 Son, Anthony Davis and 4 Siblings, Ancil Malphus, Leroy Malphus, Marie Vickers and Jerry Malphus. Mrs. Davis, a native of Blackshear, GA, was a homemaker. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Bushnell Chapel Church. Survivors include: 3 Sons: Michael Gene Davis and his wife Hazel of Sparks, GA John Davis and his wife Christine and Freddie Davis, Jr. and his fiancée Gail Jowers all of Douglas, GA 1 Daughter: Brenda Spires and her husband Fred of Fitzgerald, GA 18 Grandchildren 39 Great Grandchildren 5 Great Great Grandchildren A number of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of friends The funeral service was held Saturday morning, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Gardner and Rev. Cliff Kirkland officiating. The interment followed in Douglas City Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Corey Leavens, Glenn Leavens, Dewayne Davis, Jeffery Davis, Farest Davis and John Carl Davis. Special Musical Selections, “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “Glad Reunion Day” were presented by Joyce Roberts, Laverne Sellers and the Pianist, Hazel Davis and “Mother, I Miss You” was rendered by CD Music. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were presented by CD Music. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
