Alma Mackie Sears

December 19, 1920 - January 26, 2017

Mrs. Alma Mackie Avera Sears, age 96, of Douglas, GA passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, Columbia County, Florida following an extended illness. Mrs. Sears was born December 19, 1920 to the late William Henry Avera and the late Mackie Nicholls Avera. Other that her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Sears; one daughter, Betty Phillips and 2 Grandchildren, Christi Douglas and Cameron Blasingame. Mrs. Sears, a native of Nashville, Berrien County, Georgia was a retired salesclerk with B. C. Moore & Sons of Douglas and Nashville, GA. Mrs. Sears was an active member of both Pine Grove Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. Survivors include: 2 Sons, William D. (Ann) Bailey and Tony (Carol) Bailey both of Douglas, GA 2 Daughters, Ann Jenkins of Live Oak, FL and Carolyn (Troy) Blasingame of Douglas, GA 13 Grandchildren Numerous Great Grandchildren Several Nieces, Nephews, Other Relatives and Friends. Funeral Services were held Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Carver, Rev. Marshall Adcock and Rev. Emanuel Ellison officiating. A Poem was given by Tony Bailey. The interment followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers were: Tony Bailey, Dillon Ellis, Roger Blanton, Brooks Adcock, Thad Nobles, Paul Schneider and Chris Hutto. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Red Hat Society. Special Musical Selections, “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace,” were presented by the Soloist and Pianist, Alison Adcock. "Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Patsy Evans. Condolences may be left at www.ricketsonfuneralhome.com. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
