Tommy Harper

Mr. Tommy Carl “T.C.” Harper, age 84 of Broxton passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah, Ga., following a brief illness. Mr. Harper was born July 30, 1928 to the late Tommie and Katie Duncan Ricketson Harper. Mr. Harper, a native of Coffee County, was a Prominent Farmer of Broxton and West Green. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, as a Paratrooper. He was an avid "Fox and Bobcat" Hunter. Mr. Harper was of the Church of God Faith; however, he had been attending Salem Holiness Baptist Church. Survivors Include: His Wife of 61 years: Rebecca Courson Harper of Broxton, Ga.; 3 Sons: Glynn (Pam) Harper of Nahunta, Ga., Harry (Ann) Harper of Vidalia, Ga., and Ferrell (Eunice) Harper of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 1 Sister: Thelma R. (J. H. “Bud”) Hutcheson of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Brother: Osbin (Annie Mae) Harper of West Green, Ga.; 8 Grandchildren, and 6 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Friday, July 26, at 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home, with Rev. Tommy Greene officiating. At the graveside, Rev. Justin Moriarty offered final thoughts and prayer. The Interment followed in the Lone Hill Cemetery, with Military Rites, including the Bugler, and Flag Detail furnished by personnel from Ft. Stewart, at Hinesville, Ga. Active Pallbearers were: Ashley Harper, Carroll Harper, Miles Newton, King Newton, Larry Porter, Tommy Glenn Purvis, and Clark Harper. Honorary Pallbearers were: Ronnie Purvis, Billy O. Smith, Chris Dunn, Wendell Douberly, Ronnie Crews, Wesley Davis, Jimmy and Sylvia Selph, James Solomon, John L. Cady, Jerry and Susan Griffin. Special Musical Selections, "Stroll over Heaven with You", and "Beulah Land", were presented by the Soloist, Derek Soles, with CD Music, and "When I Cross That River", was rendered by the Soloist and Musician, Karen Batten. "Pre-Lude" and "Post-Lude" soft hymns were rendered by Karen Batten, at the Keyboard. In Lieu of Flowers, it has been requested that you make donations to your favorite church. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
