Thomas Roy Lifsey

Mr. Thomas Roy Lifsey, age 82, of Douglas, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, following a short illness. Mr. Lifsey was born Oct. 11, 1931 to the late James Fred Lifsey and the late Mildred Self Lifsey. Mr. Lifsey, a native of Pike County, Georgia, was a retired Civil Service Employee of Warner Robins Air Force Base, and a U. S. Coast Guard Veteran. He had lived In the Douglas area for the past 20 years. He was a very dedicated Christian man who touched the lives of many people in many wonderful ways. He leaves behind memories of guidance, everlasting love, and true faith. He will be remembered for his work with the United Methodist Men, his love and dedication to Epworth-By-The-Sea and the many other Methodist organizations he was involved in. Mr. Lifsey was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Douglas. Survivors include: His Wife of 58 years: Ima Jean Harper Lifsey of Douglas, Ga.; Daughter: Connie Sue Rouis and her family, Don and their sons, Joe Rouis, of Warner Robins, Ga., & Jason Rouis & his wife, Christina of Lawrenceville, Ga.; Son: Brian Thomas Lifsey and family, Chuck Snow and sons, Jonathon Lifsey & Jacob Lifsey of Centerville,Ga.; Sister-In-Law: Mae Bryant of Douglas, Ga.; Nephews: Kenneth Ray, Dean Bloom, Danny Lifsey, Larry Bryant, Jerry Bryant, Wayne Bryant, Crystal Harper, Janice Harper, and Colin Harper, Jr.; “Adopted” family members include, Marguerite Williams and Kerry Garrett. Funeral Services were held Friday, January 10, 2014. at 2:00 P. M., at the First Methodist Church in Douglas, with Rev. Sam Vernon, Rev. Dick Reese, Mr. Larry Price, and Mr. Chuck Cowart officiating. The Interment followed in the Saturday afternoon, January 11, 20914, at 2:00 P. M., in the Finchers Cemetery, in Meansville, Pike County, Ga. with Rev. Dr. George R. Freeman, Jr. officiating. Active Pallbearers were: Kerry Garrett, Joe Rouis, Jason Rouis, Jonathon Lifsey, Jacob Lifsey, Kenneth Ray, Jacob Lifsey, and Joe Bryant. Special Musical Selections, “How Great Thou Art”, was presented as a Congregational Hymn, led by Brad Riner. with Tania Myers, at the Piano, “Wind Beneath My Wings”, was presented as an instrumental by the Pianist, Tania Myers, at the Piano, “Climb Every Mountain”, was rendered by the Pianist, Tania Myers, “Lord’s Prayer”, was presented by Brad Riner, with Tania Myers, at the Piano, “Meet Me By The River”, with Tania Myers, at the Piano, and “I’ll Fly Away”, was presented as a Congregational Hymn, with Tania Myers, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Tania Myers. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
