Scott Appleby Roberts

Mr. Scott A. Roberts, age 74, of Douglas passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, at the Genesis Health Care Center, in Hazlehurst, following an extended illness. He was born May 18, 1941, to the late Albert Jackson “Jack” Roberts and the late Linnie Evelyn Yawn Roberts. Mr. Roberts, a native of Jeff Davis County, had lived in the Coffee County area for most of his life working as an Accountant. He was a Pianist for many churches, as well as playing the Piano for funerals. He had been the Pianist for the Coffee County Quartet, and the Calvarymen’s Quartet. For the past few years he had been the Pianist for the Message Group, formerly the Kings Messengers. He had been the EMA Director for Coffee County, a Boy Scout Troop Leader, and the Squadron Commander for the Civil Air Patrol. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Louise Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Southview Church of God. Survivors include, His Wife: Joyce Sellers Roberts of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Son: Sonny (Sue Ellen) Roberts of Colorado Springs, Colorado. 2 Grandchildren: Scott A. “Tripp” Roberts, III, and Rileigh Elise Roberts, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado. 2 Sisters: Jackie Phillips of Norfolk, Virginia, and Anna Miele of Midlothian, Virginia. A Host of Friends and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Monday morning, July 27, 2015, at 11:00 A. M., at the Southview Church of God, with Rev. Tim Hicks and Rev. Hilton Martin officiating. The Interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Allen Denison, Mickey Mancil, Mason Cater, Sonny Roberts, David Roberson, and Kevin Pierce. Members of the Civil Air Squadron, Brunswick Senior Squadron Group 4 served as Honorary Pallbearers. Special Musical Selections, ”The Eastern Gate”, was presented by Rev. Tim and Kaye Hicks, with CD Music, “I Know A Man Who Can”, was rendered by a CD of Scott and Joyce Roberts, and Hazel Davis, with Scott Roberts at the Piano, and “Hold To God’s Unchanging Hand”, was rendered by Rev. Tim Hicks, with Mrs. Kaye Hicks, at the Piano. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
