Mr. R. C. Reed

Mr. R. C. Reed, age 87, of Douglas passed away early Friday morning, February 7, 2014, at his residence, following an extended illness. Mr. Reed was born July 23, 1926 to the late Rad Clark Reed and the late Susan Cromer Reed. Mr. Reed, a native of Coffee County, was a retired bus driver for the Coffee County Training Center. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also preceded in death by 2 Brothers, Tom Reed and Will Reed, and a Sister, Ruby Jinks. Mr. Reed attended the West Ward Street Church of God. Survivors include: His Wife: Elnettia Royal Reed of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Daughter: Theresa (Pender) Mazzer of Douglas, Ga.; 4 Grandchildren: Mandy (Shane) Cumbass of Douglas, Ga.; Christian (Chad) Crumbley of Newnan, Ga. Rachel (Adam) Lowe of Cleveland, Tennessee; and Sandi (Derek) Young of Douglas, Ga.; 7 Great Grandchildren: Kelsey, Kanler, and Zane Cumbass, and Reagan Young, all of Douglas, Ga., Blaine, Auri, and Maddox Lowe, all of Cleveland, Tennessee. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Sunday, February 9, 2014, at 2:30 P. M., at the West Ward Street Church of God, with Rev. Britt Peavy and Rev. George Carroll Paulk officiating. A Special Eulogy was given by a granddaughter, Christian Crumbley. A Photo Memorial Program of the family was presented at the closing of the service. The Interment followed in the Douglas City Cemetery, with Military Rites, Flag Detail, and Bugler, being furnished by Personnel from Fort Stewart Army Base of Hinesville, Ga. Active Pallbearers were: Brad Stone, Jimmy Gattis, Neal Wittkamp, Keith Royal, Danny Royal, Terry Tallmadge, Michael Reed, and Greg Luke. Honorary Pallbearers were: Lavawn Luke, Chris Luke, Ralph Reed, Jim Herrin, R. B. Reed, and Jeff Royal. Special Musical Selections, “Beulah Land”, was presented by the Soloist, Gary Vickers, with Robyn Vickers, at the Piano. “Hold My Hand”, and “Homesick Before”, were presented by Adam Vickers and Derek Soles, with Adam Vickers and Ben Lott as the Guitarist, and Robyn Vickers, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Robyn Vickers. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
