Ola Smith Stone

Mrs. Ola Smith Stone, age 93, of Douglas, passed away late Tuesday evening, January 13, 2015, at her residence, following an extended illness. She was born January 1, 1922 to the late Manning George Smith and the late Rhoda Gaff Smith. Mrs. Stone, a native of Atkinson County, was a homemaker. She enjoyed making Quilts and working in her flowers, and being with her family, children, grandchildren, friends, and church family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Stone, Sr., a grandchild, Lisa Marie Stone, siblings, Rufus Smith, Roscoe Smith, Jessie Smith, Henry Smith, Daisy Stone, Betty Morgan, Willie Smith, Joseph Smith, and Hoke Smith. Mrs. Stone was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include: Children: Willene S. and the late Willie McNatt of Ocilla, Ga. ; Woodrow & Brenda Stone, Jr. of Pearson, Ga., Alphine & Dale Davis of Manor, Ga., Alline & Clyde Williams, Shirlene "Shirley" and the late Kelly Merrit, Stanley & Libby Stone, Clifford & Sylvia Stone, Chester & Judy Stone, Ola & Jr. McKinnon, and Kenneth "Kenny" & Kay Stone, all of Douglas, Ga.; 19 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Friday, January 16, 2015, at 2:00 P.M., at the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Bobby Fussell officiating. A Eulogy was given by a daughter-in-law, Brenda Stone. The Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, with a daughter-In-law, Sylvia Stone, offering a closing prayer, and Rev. Ed Gilliard conducting the Committal Services. Active Pallbearers were: Bill McNatt, Clyde Williams, Jr., Richard Keith Merritt, Jody Stone, Craig Stone, Scott Stone, Clifton Stone, and Timothy Davis. Special Musical Selections, "The Prettiest Flowers", "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", were presented by Mr. & Mrs. David Kirkland, with Susie Kirkland, at the Piano, and "Amazing Grace", was rendered as a Congregational Hymn, led by Rev. Bobby Fussell, with Susie Kirkland, at the Piano. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
