Leona "Sugar" Stone Shrouder

Mrs. Leona “Sugar” Stone Shrouder, age 95, of Broxton passed away Tuesday morning, May 24, 2016, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born April 12, 1921 to the late Elijah and Fannie Merritt Stone. Mrs. Shrouder, a native of Jeff Davis County, was a homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening, fishing and being a farm wife. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She was preceded In death by her husband of 58 years, Jimmie Shrouder, and 8 siblings, Thelma, Lucy, Lillie, Beatrice “Sweetie," Clara “Doll," Maude, Claude and Roscoe and a daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Leachman Shrouder. Mrs. Shrouder was a charter member of Stones Chapel Calvary Holiness Church. Survivors include Her Children: David Shrouder, Marilyn (Gene) Kight, Tommy (Janice) Shrouder and a granddaughter she raised, Brenda (Richard) Wooten, all of Broxton, GA; Grandchildren: Lisa Shrouder, Deidre (Danny) Hooten, Brenda (Richard) Wooten, Freddie (Regina) Kight, Allen (Beth) Kight, Jimmie Kight, Dr. Jinnie (Delane) Cleveland and Michael (Amy) Shrouder; 15 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great Great Grandchildren; Special Caregivers: Helen Dockery, Connie Grantham and Wanda Grantham and Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Friday, May 27, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., at the Stones Chapel Calvary Holiness Church, with Rev. Tim Mock, Rev. Edison Taft officiating. The Interment followed in Reedy Branch Cemetery, near Broxton, with Rev. David Yawn conducting the committal service. Active Pallbearers were: Freddie Kight, Allen Kight, Jimmie Kight, Michael Shrouder, Carroll Smith, and Dewayne Schley. Special Musical Selections, a congregational hymn, ”There Is A God Somewhere," was led by Rev. David Yawn, with Patty Mock, at the Piano, “There Is A One Way Flight," was presented by the Soloist, Rev. Edison Taft, with Patty Mock, at the Piano and “Look What I’ve Traded For A Mansion," presented by Hannah Sloan, Jolie Cleveland, and Jordan Cleveland, with Patty Mock at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Patty Mock. At the Graveside, “Amazing Grace," was presented as a Congregational Hymn, led by Rev. David Yawn. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
