John Milton Guilford

Mr. John Milton Guilford, age 83 of Douglas, GA passed away Sunday afternoon, February 19, 2023 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Guilford was born December 17, 1939 to the late N. F. Guilford and the late Ethyl Wiggins Guilford. Mr. Guilford, a native of Douglas, GA, had been employed in the accounting profession for 57 years. He owned and operated John Guilford’s Accounting Office. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and also a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He was an avid fan of The Florida State Seminoles. Mr. Guilford received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting from Florida State University. Survivors include: His wife of 60 years: Audrey Benson Guilford of Douglas, GA 3 Children: Sheila Hodges and husband Ryan of Waycross, GA Keith Guilford and wife Angela of Rome, GA Lisa Guilford Jowers of Douglas, GA 1 Sister: Kate Guilford of Boulder, CO 5 Grandchildren: Alana G. Bull and husband Ryan of Jefferson, GA Chad Hodges and wife Deanna of Hortense, GA David Guilford and wife Anna of Rome, GA Lauren Hodges Shuman and husband Walt of Clayton, GA Cameron Jowers of Valdosta, GA 5 Great Grandchildren: Rowan Shuman and Beau Shuman both of Clayton, GA Lilly Hodges and Walker Hodges both of Hortense, GA Olivia Guilford of Rome, GA 1 Nephew: Randy Benson and wife Lisa of Loganville, GA 1 Sister-In-Law: Marian Benson of Macon, GA The memorial service will be held, Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Calhoun and Rev. Lowery Brantley officiating. Randy Benson will present a eulogy. The family asks that all members of the 1958 Class at Coffee High School that can attend the service for Mr. Guilford, please sit as a group as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 P.M. at St. Mark United Methodist Church. Memorialization is by cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church 501 East Walker Street Douglas, GA. Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
