John Allen

John Earl "Hossman" Allen, 75, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Sept. 12, 2012, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Allen, a native of Bachlott, Georgia, was born Dec. 16, 1936, and retired after 40 years of Service as a private wood contractor with Hercules, Inc. He was the son of the late C. E. And Loiselle Drury Allen. He was a devoted Christian, husband, grandpa, and loved and respected by all. He graduated from DeLand High School, Class of 1955, and attended Stetson University, and served with the U. S. Army. His immediate family affectionately called him "Hossman". Mr. Allen was a member of Grace Point Baptist Church. Survivors include, his wife Margaret (Johnson) Allen of Douglas, Ga., daughters Karen (Jim) Young of Broxton, Ga., Liz Allen of Chicago, Ill., grandchildren Kelly (Jason) Hucknall of Douglas, Ga., John Hughes of Broxton, Ga., great grandsons Hayden and Hughes Hucknall and Logan Hughes, all of Douglas, Ga., 3 Brothers Floyd (Betty), Ken (Jerrie), and Carlos (Pati Rae), all of DeLand, Fl., and twin brother, Jack, of Ft. Myers, Fl., 2 Sisters Linda (Charles) Snow of Deland, Fl., Janice (James) Egan, of Malvern, Pa., 2 Brothers-in-law Wayne (Barbara) Johnson of Stockton, Mo., and Rev. Keith (Paulette) Johnson of DeLand, Fl., and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at 3 PM at LifePoint Community Church, in DeLand, Fl., with Rev. Keith Johnson and Rev. Jim Whitfield officiating. Keith Barber and Gene Williams gave Eulogies. The Interment followed in the Oakdale Cemetery in DeLand, Florida. Active Pallbearers were Jim Young, John Hughes, Jason Hucknall, Mike Snow, Mark Allen, Carlos Allen, III, and Sonny Hickox. Honorary pallbearers were members of DeLand High School, Class of 1955, and their spouses. Special Musical Selections, "The Lighthouse" was presented acappella by the Quartet, And Junie Allen presented a Eulogy and Song, "Big John". The Congregation sang "How Great Thou Art".
