Jack Dennis Batten

Mr. Jack Dennis Batten, age 91, a lifelong resident of Douglas, Georgia, passed away Thursday morning, December 26, 2024 at his residence. Mr. Batten was born in Douglas, Georgia, on May 17, 1933, to the late Dennis Batten and the late Agnes Pridgen Batten. He graduated from Coffee County High School and attended the University of Georgia. He was a farmer by trade and owned his own farm. He was a member of Rocky Pond Baptist Church. Mr. Batten leaves behind his loving wife of 71 years, Mrs. Claryce Lott Batten of Douglas, Georgia; 2 children: Cynthia B. Williams (Robert W.) of Douglas, Georgia, Stanley Batten (Christine) of Lake City, Florida; 8 grandchildren: Robert W. Williams, II (Lisa), Christina Nicole Batten, Carl Dennis Williams (Jodi), Autumn Brooke Dancy (Dr. Jason). Erica B. Green, Jacob Buck Batten, Brandy Lynn Hunt (Dylan); 10 great-grandchildren: Jakob Michael Dancy, Robert W. Williams, III, Benjamin Philip Dancy, Julia R. Williams, Natalie Victoria Green, Claire Louise Green, Bain Huxley Williams, Fox Harrison Green, Owen Wayne Hunt, and Jordan Marie Hunt. A number of extended family members and friends also survive. Along with his parents, Mr. Batten was preceded in death by a son, Jack Jerome Batten; a brother, Rexford Batten; and sisters, Christine Batten, Ruth Batten, Virginia B. Peterson, and Evelyn Ling. A funeral service will be held to honor Mr. Batten on Saturday morning, December 28, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Rocky Pond Baptist Church with Elder Phillip Smith officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Rocky Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include: Robert W. Williams, II, Carl Dennis Williams, Jacob Buck Batten, Robert W. Williams, III, Jakob Michael Dancy, Benjamin Philip Dancy. Honorary pallbearers will include: Robert W. Williams, Joy Paulk, Gail McCrary, Jordan Marie Hunt, Julia R. Williams, John William McCrary, Dylan Wayne Hunt, Danny Paulk, John Craig McCrary, Johnny Batten, Nicole Batten, Erica B. Green, Terry Sanz, Eric Wise, Kole Wise, and Elizabeth Batten.
