Charles M. Fuller

Mr. Charles Merritt Fuller, age 85, of Douglas passed away Tuesday morning, October 13, 2015, at the Baptist Village in Waycross, following a short illness. He was born June 7, 1930 to the late Oliver Thomas Fuller and the late Mary F. Fuller. Mr. Fuller, a native of Roxboro, North Carolina, had lived in the Douglas area for many years. He retired from the U. S. Army after 20 years of service to our country. He has also been an employee of Cummings Engines, and Ryder Trucks, being a Diesel Mechanic and Maintenance Man with both companies. He was also preceded in death by his Wife, Merry Jane Ross Fuller, 2 Brothers, Tom Fuller and William Fuller, and 2 Sisters, Ruth Oakley and Miriam Burhart. Mr. Fuller was a member of the Morningside Baptist Church. Survivors include: 6 Sons: Charles Fuller, and Jim Fuller, both of Roxboro, North Carolina, Jeffrey Fuller of Lake City, Florida ; Larry Andrew “Pete” Fuller of Jefferson, Ga., Richard Roy Fuller, and Michael Britt Fuller, both of Douglas, Ga.; 1 Sister: Ann Moore of Roxboro, North Carolina.; 9 Grandchildren, and 10 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives. Funeral Services were held Friday, October 16, 2015, at 2:00 P. M., at the Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Stone and Rev. Chip Woodruff officiating. The Interment followed in the Sand Hill Cemetery, with full military rites being furnished by Personnel from Ft. Stewart Army Base in Hinesville, Ga., including Casket Bearers, Firing Squad, Flag Detail, and Bugler. Active Pallbearers at the Church were: Richard Fuller, Ted Fuller, Brian McKinnon, Ryan Vinelton, Morris Norton and Jerry Harper. Mr. Zak Callahan served as an Honorary Pallbearer. Special Musical Selections, “Victory In Jesus”, was presented by the Morningside Baptist Church Choir, Led by Carl Wolters, with Kathy Whiddon, at the Piano, “Amazing Grace/My Chains Are Gone”, was presented by the Soloist, Harley Odom, with Taped CD Music, and “Blessed Be The Name” was rendered by the Congregation, led by Carl Wolters, with Kathy Whiddon, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Kathy Whiddon. In Lieu of Flowers, donations are requested to be made to the Gideon’s Organization, or the Shriners’ Children’s Hospital. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the Arrangements.
