Benny Joe Peterson

Mr. Benny Joe Peterson, age 81, of Douglas, GA passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 20, 2017 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Peterson was born in Coffee County on April 15, 1936 to the late Rexford Peterson and the late Bernice Baker Peterson Wall Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a Son, Rexford Allen Peterson. Mr. Peterson had been self-employed for many years in the transportation and set-up of mobile homes. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren, and his church family. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his friends. Mr. Peterson was a United States Navy veteran. He was a member of West Ward Street Church of God. Survivors include: His wife: Eulene Purvis Peterson of Douglas, GA 2 Sons: Rodney Neal Peterson and Mark Harper both of Douglas, GA 5 Grandchildren: Savannah (Raul) Torres, Kirk Peterson, Kollin Peterson, Marina Harper and Ephraim Harper all of Douglas, GA 2 Great Grandchildren: Phoenix Torres and Jeremy Harper both of Douglas, GA 3 Sisters: Margaret (Jimmy) Tuten of Blackshear, GA, Patsy Day of Ambrose, GA and Joan Wall of Douglas, GA 3 Sister-In-Laws: Maudine Wright, Annelle (Loran) Shrouder and Dale (Wendell) Batten all of Douglas, GA Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a host of Friends The funeral service was held Friday, September 22, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at West Ward Church of God with Rev. Britt Peavy and Dr. Coleman Peacock officiating. A special eulogy was presented by Elaine Fox. The interment followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers were: Benjamin Day, Kirk Peterson, Kollin Peterson, Ephriam Harper, Michael Purvis, Victor Cardell, Artie Dovers and Randy Purvis. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Adult Sunday School Classes of West Ward Church of God. Special Musical Selections, “I Will Put on a Crown and Walk Around” was presented by the Soloist and Keyboardist, Rev. Olin Greer, “How Great Thou Art”, was presented by Rev. Britt Peavy and the Keyboardist, Rev. Olin Greer and “Take a Vacation” was presented by the Soloist, Dr. Jamey Shrouder with Rev. Olin Greer at the Keyboard. At the Graveside, “What a Day That Will Be”, was presented a cappella by the soloist, Dr. Jamey Shrouder. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements
