Ray Lawrence Parker

Mr. Ray Lawrence Parker, age 67, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Thursday evening, November 21, 2024 following a period of declining health. Ray was born on August 9, 1957 to the late Quincy Parker and the late Frances Nettie Graham Parker in Rockledge, Florida. He made his career in Law Enforcement and was the Code Enforcement Director for Coffee County for many years. . Ray had a drive to accomplish things and a love for God and country. He was a loving husband, dad and granddad, and he loved his dog Axle, cat Luna, and spending time with his granddog, Teddy. He enjoyed working in his yards, Riding his motorcycle, camping and travel, especially to the beach and the mountains. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Pattie K. Parker of Douglas, Georgia; 4 children: Ryan Parker and wife, Amanda, of Savannah, Georgia, Rebekah Parker of Douglas, Georgia, Jack Kirkland of Kennesaw, Georgia, Patrick Kirkland of Woodstock, Georgia; 4 grandchildren: Colbie, Oriana, Tobias, and Sebastian; 2 sisters: Kay P. Wilkinson of Douglas, Georgia, and Denise P. Brogan of Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by: the mother of his children, Elizabeth Burnam Parker, a brother, Tony Parker, and a sister, Joyce P. Edmonston. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday December 2, 2024 at Saving Grace Ministries with Rev. Cliff Kirkland, Rev. Michael Harper, and Rev. Walter James officiating. His family will receive friends at the church following the service. A private interment will be held at a later date. Active pallbearers will include John Sweat, Buddy Phillips, Tony Rowell, Wesley Vickers, Buddy Gilliard, and Dobby Cothern. Honorary pallbearers will include: City of Douglas Police and Community Development Departments; Coffee County Sheriff’s Department, Douglas Medical Specialist, Bethany Hospice, Rotech, and Swains Pharmacy.
