Mary Davis Fussell

Mrs. Mary Davis Fussell, age 91 of Ambrose, GA passed away late Monday evening, December 25, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Davis was born August 3, 1926 to the late Roy Davis, Sr. and the late Vida Lee Ray Davis. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edsel Fussell, 1 Sister, Janet Bounds and 5 Brothers, Billy Davis, Kenneth Davis, Rev. Roy Davis, Jr., Stanley “Bozo” Davis and Freddie Davis, Sr. Mrs. Fussell, a native of Douglas and Coffee County, was a homemaker. She and her late husband, Edsel Fussell, owned and operated the Bridgetown Grocery for around 20 years. Mrs. Fussell was a faithful member of Mt. Union Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Marcia Fussell of Ambrose, GA 3 Sons: Jimmy Royce Fussell, Larry Fussell and Terry Fussell and his wife Libby all of Ambrose, GA 1 Sister: Judy Rickerson and her husband Vernon of Douglas, GA 2 Brothers: Donnie Davis and his wife Jean Carol and Wayne Davis all of Douglas, GA 6 Grandchildren: Erica Batten of Willacoochee, GA April Larie Davis, Kevin Royce Fussell, Brandon Tygart Fussell, Aaron Coy Fussell all of Ambrose, GA and Alyssa Michelle Fussell of Marietta, GA 3 Great Grandchildren: Dalton Whitley, Gracie Whitley and Ethan Davis all of Ambrose, GA Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of Friends The funeral service was held Thursday morning, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Union Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Walt DeLoach and Rev. Gerald Gardner officiating. The interment followed in Mt. Union Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were: Sammy Davis, Amos Brantley, Rhett Fussell, Sean Fussell, Keith Spivey and Randy Spivey. Honorary Pallbearers were: John Davis, Freddie Davis, Jr., Ken Vickers, Ronald Paulk, Hugh Fussell, Donnie Smith, Norman Fussell, Clyde Kirkland and Kenny Davis. Special Musical Selections, “Just A Rose Will Do”, “Stroll Over Heaven With You” and “I Have A Home” were presented by Mike & Hazel Davis, with Joyce Roberts, at the Piano. “Pre-Lude” and “Post-Lude” soft hymns were rendered by the Pianist, Joyce Roberts. Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
